WSWB: Women in Business Cuppa for CANSA networking event #4

Hello World. It’s time to Break out my fourth Women in Business Cuppa for CANSA post. If you are interested in reading about the others please click here, here and here to see how these events have grown!

We partnered with the PepperClub Hotel & Spa for this event . A five star luxury brand and it was evident from the moment we walked in. The staff took care of everything from set up, technical issues to break down. I knew who was assigned to the event when shifts changed, I was visited by the banqueting manager to see if I was happy with everything and because of all of this I was two hours ahead of schedule and could enjoy lunch before the event started, a luxury I have never had before.

Women Supporting Women in Business (WSWB) is a feature on the blog which inspired me to pilot The Women in Business Cuppa for CANSA event for The Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA). The feature highlights powerhouses who are doing amazing things in their field and I wanted to connect these women & start conversations in real life.

Putting together this type of event is exhausting and would not be possible without our partners. Our second collab was with The Cape Town Hotel School who I am lucky enough to have worked with twice now. They were responsible for our cupcakes, with my only brief being “PINK”!

Another crucial collab is our speakers. Our panel of speakers for this event was resident life coach,Lynne Kock owner of Evolution Incorporated Coaching & Consulting and Loren Lee Langenhoven, personal stylist & owner of StylebyLoren.

And then to the thing that people love receiving the most at this event  but the thing that  gives me the most grey hairs. The goody bag. Getting goodies to fill this amaaazing bag is usually a nightmare. But my trusty sponsors Cosmopolitan, Woolworths, Benefit Cosmetics SA , Prestige, Reydiant Natural Skincare ,The Bees Knees, Cape Town Comedy Club and The Herb & Spice Factory Shop always send over the most beautiful goodies to give away.

Recently I have also introduced an intimate shopping experience for attendees which gives business owners an opportunity to exhibit their wares and brand at the event.

As proud as I am of this event, what I enjoy most is that it has turned us all into a sisterhood, a #squad not afraid to listen or ask for help from a group of amazing ladies & know that help will be given but so will heart, soul and passion. As always thank you for reading & for supporting this event xx

Women Supporting Women in Business has been a dream of mine for a few years.I wanted to provide a network of women to support each other & build each other up and I am extremely proud to see my dream come to life.

The event starts with a fire line up.The speakers are powerhouses & leaders in their respective fields each and everyone of them. Our first speaker was Dr Koebraa Peters (Marine Biologist) and co-owner of one of my most loved plus size friendly, modest wear and breast feeding friendly brand, Kalathea Clothing. Dr Peters shared what “Vision in Business” meant to her.

Next up we had Sue Faith Levy, director of marketing, Pr & Digital at the Radison Red who spoke about socialnomics. Radison Red were the hosts to our second event which you can read all about here.

At this event we were honoured to have our resident life coach Lynne Kock from Evolution Inc talk about vision & living a life of your dreams. Lynne has been pioneering the movement & walking the road with me since the inception but I have never been moved to goosebumps more than when Lynne spoke at this event. I guess that’s what happens when you live a passion filled life.

Our last guest speaker was Letishia Charles owner of Queen Bee Hospitality Marketing. Letishia shared great tips on using social media for business.

We started and ended the event with an intimate shopping experience and were joined by:

We were also joined by triple threat Ermi Pillay, cancer survivor , singer & a woman in business. Ermi  serenaded us with the smooth Jazz sounds of Norah Jones and Ella Fitzgerald.

Our next event takes place on October 6th 2018 at the Pepperclub Hotel & Spa. We are excited to welcome Style by Loren, personal stylist & wardrobe consultant as one of our guest speakers to this event. We will be turning Pepper Club pink for Breast Cancer Awareness month & hope you will join us. As always thank you for reading xxx

Cuppa For CANSA Women in Business - 6 October

Monday Must Have’s:Benefit Brow Bar

Hello World. It’s been a minute since my last Monday Must Have review but let’s Break Out a service review shall we .

If you attended my last Women in Business Cuppa for Cansa, which you can read about here, you would have received a Benefit Cosmetics voucher entitling you to a brow wax & tint in the goody bag.

Goody Bag received at the Women in Business Cuppa for CANSA

I’ve never been before so I decided to use it before it expired and made my way to the Benefit Brow bar in Edgars Waterfront this past weekend.

I met with brow expert Waseema Kippie who sat me down & talked me through the process .

First she cleant my brows and then she tinted it. The tint takes two minutes before its removed.

Waseema applies the tint

Before just going in and waxing my brow she used this nifty little device to do a brow mapping which determines the shape my brow should take . She then tested the wax on the palm of my hand to make sure I was comfortable with the temperature and proceeded to apply wax starting with my unibrow.

I’ve been waxing for a few years and not a word of a lie when she pulled the wax strip off it didn’t hurt as it usually does and I’m convinced it’s because of the strip which felt satiny smooth .

After the waxing was done and my brows neatened she then went in with the Benefit Fool proof brow powder and Gimme Brow gel to keep it in place . She also used concealer to tidy up which I thought was the cherry on top of the rainbow cake because after waxing I go extremely red and walk around with these patches convinced people are looking at me like I’m from another planet.

The service I received was not only professional but it was such a pleasurable experience. Waseema asked me if I was okay throughout my session and we chatted like we had known each other for years . I am so impressed and know this is where I’ll be getting my brows did from now on.

The tint and wax take approximately 20 minutes and will set you back R280.00/21 USD /16 GBP. If you just want a wax it will be R155.00 /12 USD /9 GBP. Worth every penny in my opinion.

As always thank you for reading , I hope you enjoyed this review, let me know in the comment section below. And as the saying goes “Remember great eyebrows don’t happen by chance. They happen by appointment.” All my love F x

WSWB:Women in Business Cuppa for CANSA networking event

Hello World . It’s been two months since my last Women Supporting Women in Business post. Time to Break out a show and tell on our last event? I think so 😀

In March I piloted an event for The Cancer Association of South Africa called Women in Business Cuppa for CANSA, which you can read about here.

I felt, nervous, scared and a thousand other things, imagining the worst. But God always comes through .The pilot event was a huge success & the feedback I received was phenomenal.

Fears laid to rest I set to work planning our second installment which took place at the Radisson Red .

Impromptu Review:” The service we received at Red was unparalleled. They are forward thinking & the future of the hospitality industry in South Africa. The decor is urban & hip (read young). It also helps that their Red Roof Bar was voted best Rooftop Bar in Cape Town for 2018 by the Inside Guide.Check them out, Thank me later .”

Our panel of speakers were Rushda Moosajee better known as Rushtush owner of Glow Womens Physique (I fangirled so hard I stumbled over all my words, which I’m sure she’s used too) and our resident life coach & colour therapist Lynne Kock owner of Evolution Incorporated Coaching & Consulting . The speakers addressed what it meant to be successful in business and shared some tips & tricks.

Our open mic session also known as the networking portion of the event heard Taskeen Barday introduce her organisation the New Life project.

We were also joined by  Claudell Van Eerden a sponsor & author of YouTube Channel “Coasting with Claudell“.

Sharon Nelson qualified NLP lifecoach & motivational speaker shared a self love exercise with the group. These sessions are my favourite.  We get to hear about all the incredible things these ladies are doing.

Our next event takes place just after Women’s Day on August 11 at Protea Fire & Ice Hotel and I have something special planned.

I am happy to welcome Letishia Charles from Queen Bee Marketing who will address social media in business & how best to use it to our advantage. Lynne Kock will lead us in a special vision related exercise and Dr Koebraa Peters Marine Biologist and co-owner of Kalathea Clothing will speak on what vision means in business.

WSWB:Networking event

Hello World . It’s time to break out a Women supporting Women in Business post(WSWB). This feature on the blog is an initiative close to my heart. I use this feature to highlight powerhouses who are out here doing the most.

This inspired me to pilot an event for The Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA) called Women in Business Cuppa for CANSA recently. The concept was to invite women business owners, bloggers, beauty enthusiasts & aspiring business owners to get together over a Cuppa for Cansa. The event starts with guest speakers who address a variety of topics but also share advice and tips with us about what makes them successful in business. The floor is then opened to the guests to either market their business, share their stories or pose a question to the panel. The guest speakers are invited to exhibit their company, product or service and at the end of the event guests are encouraged to network and get to know each other .

My aim with these events is to create a network of women who can stand for each other, who can support each other & share blueprints so that we don’t reinvent the wheel just perfect it.
