Hello World. After a jam-packed weekend, its time to Break Out a Monday Must have post. Today I am reviewing the Sephora sheet masks, that I have tried over a period of four weeks. These masks retail for 6USD each.
The first mask I tried was the Sephora Grape Face Mask, specifically aimed at protecting and acting as a shield against urban pollution to maintain skin’s natural radiance. On the website these masks are described as ” A next-generation Sephora Collection face mask in a new bio-fiber to perfectly hug facial contours for more effective results.”These masks are paraben free, sulfate free, phthalate free and cruelty free.
The white sheets are soaked in serum and has a film that needs to be removed before placing it on your face. My first impression was that the smell was not overpowering, this is a big deal for me as my sinus would’ve acted up and my review would end there and then.I thought it would be grape scented but had a subtle rose scent which I loved. The mask was soothing, the serum absorbed easily and after 15 minutes I massaged whatever was left over into my skin. My skin felt refreshed with this mask & I would definitely try it again.
The next one I tried was the Sephora Litchi Face Mask. This ultra moisturising & brightening mask was what I needed most, as I have extremely dry skin. Once again the smell was rose scented, so that was a plus. It did what it claimed to do , it moisturised my skin which felt plump afterward and brightened it up. I used this before I did my make- up and I could see a difference.
The next one I was excited to try because I am obsessed with pomegranate was the Sephora Pomegranate Face Mask. This face mask is used to combat fatigue & energize your skin. When I applied this I had a bad reaction around my mouth and nose area which also caused a bit of swelling especially around my top lip area. I’m not sure which ingredient it was that caused the allergic reaction, however I will say this, I do have extremely sensitive skin so this might work perfectly well for you.
The last mask I tried was the Pineapple face mask. This actually smelled like pineapples and what do I love more than pomegranate, PINEAPPLES obviously. This mask aims to perfect & smooth your pores. Once again I used this before I did my make up and that together with my primer had me asking what pores. This mask was a hit & probably my favourite.
As far as the price is concerned I’m not sure if this is the most cost-effective mask but I would purchase these masks again in a heartbeat. If you are lucky enough to have a Sephora in your city or you order online there is currently a “buy 3 get 1 free deal“. As always thank you for reading. Please let me know how you found these masks. With all my love F xx
Hello World. It’s been a minute since my last Monday Must Have review but let’s Break Out a service review shall we .
If you attended my last Women in Business Cuppa for Cansa, which you can read about here, you would have received a Benefit Cosmetics voucher entitling you to a brow wax & tint in the goody bag.
I’ve never been before so I decided to use it before it expired and made my way to the Benefit Brow bar in Edgars Waterfront this past weekend.
I met with brow expert Waseema Kippie who sat me down & talked me through the process .
First she cleant my brows and then she tinted it. The tint takes two minutes before its removed.
Before just going in and waxing my brow she used this nifty little device to do a brow mapping which determines the shape my brow should take . She then tested the wax on the palm of my hand to make sure I was comfortable with the temperature and proceeded to apply wax starting with my unibrow.
I’ve been waxing for a few years and not a word of a lie when she pulled the wax strip off it didn’t hurt as it usually does and I’m convinced it’s because of the strip which felt satiny smooth .
After the waxing was done and my brows neatened she then went in with the Benefit Fool proof brow powder and Gimme Brow gel to keep it in place . She also used concealer to tidy up which I thought was the cherry on top of the rainbow cake because after waxing I go extremely red and walk around with these patches convinced people are looking at me like I’m from another planet.
The service I received was not only professional but it was such a pleasurable experience. Waseema asked me if I was okay throughout my session and we chatted like we had known each other for years . I am so impressed and know this is where I’ll be getting my brows did from now on.
The tint and wax take approximately 20 minutes and will set you back R280.00/21 USD /16 GBP. If you just want a wax it will be R155.00 /12 USD /9 GBP. Worth every penny in my opinion.
As always thank you for reading , I hope you enjoyed this review, let me know in the comment section below. And as the saying goes “Remember great eyebrows don’t happen by chance. They happen by appointment.” All my love F x
Hello World! Easter Monday is the best Monday and its time to break out a Monday must have post. This time featuring favourite drugstore brand and owner of the infamous”Maybe shes’s born with it , maybe its Maybelinne” tagline.
I received The Burgundy Bar from a very kind friend and thought I would practise my cut crease.
This palette is the perfect Autumn palette. With 12 shades which ranges from ultra matte to champaigne metallic shades. I found the shades pigmented with little fallout. I like to use my setting spray with metallic shades to create a more intense and pigmented look and once again it didn’t let me down. When applying the product it went on smooth and I found it blendable.
While doing the cut crease the lightest shade in the palette set the concealer I used, perfectly. I was super impressed by this as I have tried other lighter shades in other palettes before and did not get the result I wanted.
What I have found is that I need to cut my crease much higher as I have hooded eyes.
I recommend this product if you are looking for a palette that’s easy to work with. When it comes to pricing it’s not the cheapest palette for a drug store brand, retailing at R260.00 \21 USD\ 15 GPB but the colours & quality more than make up for it.
Happy Easter Monday all. Let me know if this is a yay or nay for you. With all my love.
Hello World . Its 2018 and time to Break out a Monday Must Have Post.
I’m pretty late to the party with this brand but after seeing it on the 3 for 2 deals at Dischem I didn’t need a second invitation. Catrice cosmetics is a premium brand inspired by trends the world over at an affordable price. Also a firm favourite with bloggers on my timeline and I can see why.
I trialled the Glam & Doll Super black waterproof liner , the eye matic waterproof dipliner & lash|brow designer shaping, conditioning mascara gel. I’m always careful with the products I use as my skin is sensitive and I’ve had bad reactions to liquid eyeliner before . These products however did not disappoint. The Eye matic dipliner allows easy application, applies like a dream, dries quickly and stays put for the entire day . The same with the Glam & Doll super black liner. What I’m interested to see with the Glam & Doll black liner is if it dries out quickly like I experienced with the Essence liner. I love the lash|brow designs shaping & conditioning mascara gel applicator , it allows you to shape your brows perfectly & the product is not sticky .
As always thank you for reading, with all my love xx
Hello World! It’s been more than a hot minute, in fact January & February just ran away with me & I am only catching my breath now. As my first post for 2018 I have to start it off with a “Monday Must Have” post.
It’s time to Break out Girl. Leggo. A few years ago I fell in-love with the Clarisonic cleansing brush, I mean who didn’t. But my hopes of ever owning one was dashed when I saw the price tag.
Fast forward to 2017 I received the Sorbet Facial Cleanser, which I have been trialing since September and I have to say it does the job for a fraction of the cost. The Sorbet Facial Cleanser comes with three brush heads:
High Sensitivity Brush Head for sensitive skin.
Daily cleansing brush head for daily removal of dirt.
Exfoliating brush head for deep cleansing.
I use the facial cleanser in conjunction with my face wash and face mask. What I truly love about this little device is how easy it makes taking off the day’s makeup. You are guaranteed no product is left behind. I have noticed I don’t have as many blackheads, my period break out is also less than before and my face looks smooth & clear.
Ps:This product is currently less 20% at Clicks nationwide. Go on spoil yourself .With all my love. F xxx
Hello World! It’s my favorite time of the week, Monday and time to Break out a Monday Must Have post.
Earlier this year I attended the Beauty Swop or Sale Beauty Expo & picked up my first Colourpop purchase. I’ve heard so many amazing things about this brand , besides being affordable the make-up quality is top-notch & I was quite excited to try it out.
I picked up the Super shocked cheek highlighter in Wisp and the Ultra metallic lip in the shade Maneater.
I picked out these colours because I wanted a golden glow for an upcoming holiday,I was not disappointed. These items were purchased at sale prices from Samika Store , a vendor at the beauty expo. Samika Store is an online retailer who stocks authentic international brands. The highlighter was purchased for R 180/9.6GBP/ 12.66 USD and the lipstick was R175/9.4GBP/12.03USD.
What are your favourite Colour Pop purchases beauties, please share them below as I think this might become one of my favourite brands. As always thank you for reading , with all my love F xx
Hello World. How exciting is it that I get to Break Out another Monday Must Have post. Well it is for me anyway.
Lets get into it. Today I’m introducing you to the Kiki Luxury Skincare brand and more specifically the Cool Citrus Setting Spray. This is another item I received in my BSS Beauty Expo swag bag, along with a sample of the Natural Radiance moisturizer & Face Primer ( shout out to Coco for going out of her way to arrange my swag bag & ticket after it sold out).
Description taken from the website:
KiKi’s Make-Up Ready Cool Citrus Setting Spray is a gorgeous, light and silky, citrus enriched product which is sprayed over your make-up in order to set and hold it for longer periods of time. KiKi’s Make-Up Ready Cool Citrus Setting Spray, Step 5 of the Make-Up Ready process, not only locks down your make-up, but spraying on this extra fine mist also gives you a refreshing boost. Don’t let those dry days get you down. The Cool Citrus Setting Spray can also act as a secret weapon to provide instant moisture and hydration. Just whip it out of your handbag, any time, any place, give yourself a quick spritz and immediately find a new, more radiant and moisturised you. This product is free of synthetic fragrance and suitable for both dry and oily skin types. It contains aromatic, natural grapefruit oil to cool and calm the senses.
Let me just say out of the bundle the Cool Citrus Setting Spray is my favorite. To test it I used it before foundation, after foundation, after my make-up was done and spritzed my face once more during a night out. Obsessed much?! I also used it on a brush to intensify my highlight & eye-shadow.
The smell firstly is a biggie for me, because of my sensitive skin & sinus, the citrus tone is not overpowering as I feared. The Cool Citrus Spray also covers the two p’s. Price & Packaging. It’s reasonably priced , at 245ZAR for 100ml. And then lets not forget about the gorgeous packaging, I can hardly believe this is a local product. Simply put I’m so impressed by this local brand , I will be repurchasing it when I run out.
As always thank you for reading. If you have tried and absolutely love any other Kiki products please let me know.
Hello World. Its Monday and that means I get to “Break Out” another “Monday Must Have” post , girl. My absolute favorite kind of post.
Over the weekend I tried the infamous Hydra Intense Black Charcoal Mask. I received this mask in my BSS Beauty Expo swag bag & was so chuffed when I saw I had received the “Hydra Intense” mask as I suffer from dry skin due to eczema.
Product Description taken from website:
Intense Hydration Plump up dehydrated skin Eliminate acne Bamboo charcoal extract – highly absorbent and deeply cleanses the skin Suitable for all skin types Not tested on animals Fragrance free Paraben free CLOTH: Black Charcoal Mask
I kept the mask on for 45 minutes. 40 minutes into the mask I started massaging the serum into my skin. It is advised to keep sheet masks on for no longer than 15-20 minutes . When I removed the mask my skin felt tight like a tiger, smooth & super velvety. The best was yet to come the next day when a few people commented on how “glowy” my skin looked and this ,let me just add this was without an ounce of make up on. I’m soooo impressed I’m incorporating this into my weekly beauty routine.
These masks are available from Timeless Truth Mask and usually retails for 69 ZAR but is currently on SALE for 49 ZAR.
Thank you for reading beauties. Please share your favorite masks with me, I think I might just have found my new obsession.Love, peace and happiness xxx
Hello World. I’m so excited to break out a Monday Must have post, its been a minute.
A few weeks ago Cape Town was host to the first ever Beauty Swop or Sale Beauty Expo. I couldn’t wait to stock up on some much needed items & some ‘must haves”. After reading such good reviews, I decided a “must have” item would be Pink Cosmetics brush cleaner.
I emailed Janet Stewart, the powerhouse behind Pink Cosmetics. My order was processed & I picked it up at the BSS expo. Easy, peasy! What I love about Pink Cosmetics besides the great products obvs ,is that Janet’s passion comes through in her business, and that love spills over to the products she creates. With every order she sends out she adds a little bit of magic, in the form of a free gift( her amazing bath bombs), the care she takes in packaging each item (my order before this came individually gift wrapped) & her professionalism. They say “God is in the details” & these are the little things that matter to me & will keep me coming back.
The instructions on the website read “Simply wet your brush or sponge with clean water. Next, wet the top of your cleaner in its container, and swirl the wet brush around on it to activate the cleaning ingredients. Remember, the dirtier your brush, the less it lathers. Rinse and repeat until your brush or sponge is perfectly clean and germ-free.”
I did this four times et voila my brushes are clean, & feels as soft as the day I bought it. It feels nourished & best of all I have tons of product left which means this buy will last me ages. Another plus is that I don’t have to feel guilty about water restrictions as this actually cuts down on water usage. . When I finally reach the end of the product I will do a “cost to use” ratio to see how affordable this product is.
As always thank you for reading. Wishing you a beautiful Monday with all my love xxx
Hello World. Its Monday and time for another Monday Must have post. As the ultimate lazy girl trying to live my best life, today I want to share some of my daily make up hacks which gives me a few extra minutes to spend under the covers.
I love a two in one product. I use my Dolce & Gabbana concealer as an eyeshadow & lip primer, I use it to neaten my brow area and recently I discovered I can use it over my dark eyeshadow base, while trying to perfect a cut crease. It makes the colors stand out so much more & it’s changed my eye makeup game.
Another versatile product we all love is Vaseline. Besides moisturising, taming fly-aways & making your perfume last longer, my favourite Vaseline hack is dabbing a dot of product over my eyeshadow, for a beautiful glossy lid. The glossy lid is quite on trend now & you can get this look at home in less than a minute.
3. Colour Correcter
I suffer from dark circles which no amount of sleep will ever fix. Not being one to buy a million products I use my trusty Nyx “Pure Red” matte lipstick under my foundation to colour correct. It’s a win for me everytime.
I line my eyelash curler with black liner , so when I curl my lashes I line my eyes at the same time. This handy tip comes from Google & I was pleasantly surprised when it actually worked.
For the past few months I have been without liquid eyeliner. My hack until I hit the shops, is using an angled brush, spritzing it with setting spray and dipping into my Essence “All about Greys” eyeshadow palette. It gives me perfect, intense winged eyeliner & no one can tell the difference.
Please share your make up hacks with me. As always thank you for reading my beauty Queens & Kings.
