WSWB: Evolution Incorporated Coaching & Consulting.

Hello World!  As you may or may not know I’m big on supporting women owned & run businesses, which is why I started Women Supporting Women in Business networking events a few years ago & now the WSWB section on the blog. If you have a product or service I can get behind, you best believe I am going to hype the s@#t out of your business because what we need more in this world is women who stand behind other women, who support their dreams & cover them in love. I can’t think of a better act of love than by sharing the gems I have found on the blog in hopes that you support these women warriors &  their amazing initiatives.

Today I am excited to share with you Evolution Incorporated Coaching & Consulting.   A few weeks ago I was invited to my first Colour Therapy session , you can read my full review here. Lynne Kock the powerhouse behind Evolution Inc is a Life Coach, Colour therapist, Wife, Mother & believer. Born & bred in sunny Cape Town, her love for people, creativity & enlightenment has led her down a very colourful path. Qualified as a Fashion Designer & Fashion buyer, she ventured out of corporate in 2016 to fulfill her dream of building her own legacy. Evolution Incorporated was borne of the realisation that she had more to offer the world & that she wanted to spend the rest of her life helping people discover their true potential while spreading love & light.

Lynne Kock – Colour Therapist & Life Coach

Speaking to Lynne during my session felt like “home” she spoke my language, she made me feel comfortable & she made sense of what I was feeling but could never put into words. A long time ago I read something which has ever since stayed with me ” The more you speak about your burden , the more you give it away until eventually all you feel is light”. I felt light after my session but most importantly I felt love. Self love. Somewhere along the line I lost my love of self.  I left the session feeling content & connected with myself for the first time in three years. And that to me is something worth celebrating.

As always thank you for reading! And remember as Buddha said “You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe deserve your love and affection”.

Colour Therapy: Yay or Nay?

Hello World. Break out Girl. This Monday Must have Review is a bit different. A month ago I was invited by Evolution Incorporated Coaching & Consulting  for a colour therapy session.

When the day arrived I had no idea what to expect. I had visions of colour being reflected through a glass spectrum and onto my body , healing the parts that were broken. I dismissed that thought and headed for trusty old Google.

Lynne, who is a Life coach & Colour Therapist met with me in her cosy office and it felt like chatting with an old friend I hadn’t seen for years. That immediately put me at ease.

In her office a display of bottles filled with essential oils take center stage, after we had chatted for a few minutes & I asked some questions, our session started by her asking me to choose a minimum of five bottles. I really didn’t need any direction as I chose the bottles housing colours I was most attracted too.

Essential Oils I use on the soles of my feet & in the shower

Lynne explained what the colours represented and what that particular colour could heal in my life.  At the end of the session some really tough questions  had come up, mostly relating to grief and transition periods. Her observations were spot on.

I then pinpointed two colours I felt would help me bridge the gap.Lynne asked me to close my eyes & with out stretched hands I picked… Magenta. Magenta? Purple!  Ha. Coincidence?! The universe always comes through strong when you lose your way doesn’t she. I have always surrounded myself with this colour until recently.

As Lynne explained “Purple heals grief, spiritual arrogance, depression, judgment, control and need for perfection.”  All the things I need to get rid of. So as I journey on, my mission is to turn my world purple once again.

I will recomend Colour Therapy to anyone who needs a little bit of direction, feels like something is amiss or is dealing with trauma. I enjoyed this session so much and feel more connected & in tune with myself.  I’m excited to see where this leads me and will be booking another session soon.

What are your thoughts on colour therapy? How has it helped you? Let me know. As always Thank you for reading xx

Monday Must-have’s: Matte Lips

How many obsessions can one person have?! After highlighters, my next obsession is matte lipsticks. I have traded my trusty Mac lippies with a Matte finish like Russian Red for long wearing Mattes. Kiss proof? Yes please!!!

I’ve been a big fan of Stila Stay All Day Liquid lipstick until I came across the Mac Retro Matte Liquid. Mac Retro Matte has such a great formula. It’s non-drying and feels like silk on my lips.

My favorite matte lipsticks & Benefit Porefessional used as lip primer.

Another favorite is the budget friendly brand Essence, who has a great Matte Lip-Gloss.And while trying to get my hands on Jeffree Star’s Velour Liquid Lipstick in Weirdo (a matte black) I came across Pink Cosmetics who didn’t have stock of Weirdo at the time but did have the Kylie Jenner Lip Kit in Dead on Knight (described as an intense black on the website.)

Skeptical, only because I’m not a Kylie cosmetics fan as much as I am a Jeffree Star fan, I ordered the lip kit. When I eventually tried it I was so impressed , I’m not sure if it was because of the color or the formula.

Picture Top Left: Mac Retro Retro in “Aim for Gorgeous. Picture Top Right: Essence Matt Lip Gloss in “Beauty Approved”. Picture Bottom Left: Stilla Stay All Day in “Carina”. Picture Bottom Right: Kylie Lip Kit in “Dead of Knight”

While I love my mattes, I have to take extra care of my lips,   please see a few tips below on how to look bomb wearing matte lips.

1.Depending on my mood I either use a honey (again) & brown sugar scrub or the Shezen hydrating bath to exfoliate.
2. I use softlips to moisturize & then because I don’t have a dedicated lip primer I use my face primer from Benefit the “Porefessional” to prime my lips.
3. A good outline builds a great foundation for bomb looking lips. You do not always need to purchase a liner from the same brand , I use an essence liner with most of my lipsticks. And honestly who can afford to purchase liners for every lipstick from the same brand.
4. Lastly I use an ear- bud & concealer to clean up any mistakes and define lips even more.
5. Realize you look BOMB regardless of what you wearing.

Thank you for reading. If you have a favorite matte lipstick please share it with me xxx

Monday Must have’s: Skincare for Eczema sufferers.

Hello World. Don’t you just hate when you have an itch you cant scratch?! For as long as I can remember I’ve been suffering from eczema.  Eczema to me is … that itch I just cannot scratch. Urghhh.

My skin has become easier to deal with over the years but I still have really bad break outs. Which just worsens as the season changes & the days heat up. Summer time is my best and worst time. Best because long summer days make me feel happier. Worst because I breakout in the ugliest rash on my chest , hands & arms whenever the sun touches my skin & it doesn’t really matter that I’m a sunscreen fanatic.

Needless to say I have tried every remedy out there. Bathed in tea (rooibos tea) applied aloe gel & calamine lotion that contains an anesthetic just to deaden the skin and take away the itch. That itching feeling drives me crazy. I freeze facecloths, sometimes wrap the area in gauze and a hundred other things.

In my search to find the perfect remedy I have found two things that work for me. The first is a homemade mask which gives my face a radiant glow.  I’ve been using this mask for almost 7 years now. I take one egg and a teaspoon of honey , mix it up and apply to my face until it sets like a mask. The egg because of the protein improves the dryness & tightens my skin while the honey with its antibacterial properties calms my breakout. I love this because it does the trick every time.

Woolworths Raw honey & Eggs for Face Mask and Shezen Rehydrating bath

My second  saving grace,  that I’ve been using for approximately three or four years now is the Shezen Re-hydrating Bath. I apply this to my rash and I immediately feel a difference. My inflamed skin feels moisturized & not so raw from all the scratching. This product contains Shea Butter, calendula and sweet almond oil. I don’t know if its the Shea butter with its anti-inflammatory properties or the combination of oils but it really does wonders for my skin. I buy mine here if you interested.

Ps: I also use this as a lip scrub. My matte lippies come off easily, which is great because I only wear matte lipsticks now & it dries out my lips so much.

In the mean time, I’m still doing some research on natural toners & moisturizers. I have so far found the most recommended cleanser to be coconut oil (go figure, coconut oil will fix your life) & toner to be apple cider vinegar mixed with mineral water.  I am still at a loss as far as a anti-aging moisturizer is concerned but I will find it. For now I use E45 (as a moisturizer)  & hemorrhoid cream (for wrinkles) when I remember .

If you have any suggestions for me please comment below. I would love any tips on whats worked for you. As always thank you for reading & Happy Monday lurvlies xxx

MBFWCT Autumn/Winter April 2017

Hello World! A week ago I attended the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Cape Town #MBFWCT Autumn/Winter 2017 event. After being postponed due to our infamous wind, the second choice venue, Salt River studios was a dream. Imagine dusty railway lines as you driving up to the venue, vintage(read old) warehouses, add fashion and you have a recipe for success. What a stunning venue & perfect location for a photo shoot (if anyone is interested).

This year was the first time I attended MBFWCT as media/blogger. I have always attended as a member of the public because I want to support local wherever and whenever I can. I wish more people supported/attended MBFWCT , as some of the shows I attended were not filled to capacity as I thought it would be. And that is a shame! The talent on display filled my heart with African pride.

I also spotted some hot trends like turquoise tones as seen at Valentino and white feathers as seen at Balenciaga. However as much as the show was on par with international standards I loved the originality & interpretation of designers.

My favorite show by far was Afro Mod Trends. Their line “African Gatsby ” had so much sass it set my soul alight.

Below is a visual diary of the shows I attended, featuring my most loved pieces. If you wish to see more click here.

Monday Must Have’s: Highlighted for the God’s

Hello World. Break Out Girl. Its Monday again and that means its time for my Monday must haves. If I had to wear only two items on my face for the rest of my life , it will have to be a black eyeliner and a highlighter. I have always loved a good highlighter. In fact I’m obsessed.  Here are my favorite highlighters.

Benefit Watt’s Up! RRP- R425.00

Watt’s up swatched on my fingers.

Described as a “A champagne cream-to-powder highlighter. ” This was made famous by Mario Dedivanovic who used it as part of Kim K’s make up routine. This is one of my favs, simply because I can use it with or without make up & gives me a subtle glow.

Highlighter used : Benefit Watt’s Up!

Swiitchbeauty Slay for Days Pallette – RRP -R350.00

Swiitchbeauty Slay for Days Pallette  (arrow indicates which color I use for a bronze highlighter)

Not only a great eye-shadow palette but I use it as a highlighter option if I’m looking for bronze glow.

Jeffree Star Princess Cut: RRP- R750.00

J.S Princess Cut swatched on my fingers.

My favorite by far. I love everything about this brand especially how pigmented the highlighter is. In fact I am convinced J.S is my spirit animal. A pop of highlighter on the bridge of my nose, eyebrows and cheekbones & I’m ready to go.

Highlighter used: Jeffree Star Princess Cut

Catrice contouring kit: RRP-  R89.95

Catrice contouring kit. Used the lightest shade as a highlighter &  swatched it on my finger.

I’ve had this contouring kit for a few months and only just noticed the lightest shade which is a creme highlighter and it’s actually pretty decent.

Highlighter used: Lightest shade in  Catrice contouring kit

Let me know what your favourite highlighters are at the moment. I am always keen to try a new highlighter. As always thank you for reading beauties xxx
