WSWB:Women in Business Cuppa for CANSA networking event

Hello World . It’s been two months since my last Women Supporting Women in Business post. Time to Break out a show and tell on our last event? I think so 😀

In March I piloted an event for The Cancer Association of South Africa called Women in Business Cuppa for CANSA, which you can read about here.

I felt, nervous, scared and a thousand other things, imagining the worst. But God always comes through .The pilot event was a huge success & the feedback I received was phenomenal.

Fears laid to rest I set to work planning our second installment which took place at the Radisson Red .

Impromptu Review:” The service we received at Red was unparalleled. They are forward thinking & the future of the hospitality industry in South Africa. The decor is urban & hip (read young). It also helps that their Red Roof Bar was voted best Rooftop Bar in Cape Town for 2018 by the Inside Guide.Check them out, Thank me later .”

Our panel of speakers were Rushda Moosajee better known as Rushtush owner of Glow Womens Physique (I fangirled so hard I stumbled over all my words, which I’m sure she’s used too) and our resident life coach & colour therapist Lynne Kock owner of Evolution Incorporated Coaching & Consulting . The speakers addressed what it meant to be successful in business and shared some tips & tricks.

Our open mic session also known as the networking portion of the event heard Taskeen Barday introduce her organisation the New Life project.

We were also joined by  Claudell Van Eerden a sponsor & author of YouTube Channel “Coasting with Claudell“.

Sharon Nelson qualified NLP lifecoach & motivational speaker shared a self love exercise with the group. These sessions are my favourite.  We get to hear about all the incredible things these ladies are doing.

Our next event takes place just after Women’s Day on August 11 at Protea Fire & Ice Hotel and I have something special planned.

I am happy to welcome Letishia Charles from Queen Bee Marketing who will address social media in business & how best to use it to our advantage. Lynne Kock will lead us in a special vision related exercise and Dr Koebraa Peters Marine Biologist and co-owner of Kalathea Clothing will speak on what vision means in business.

OOTD: Little Miss Sunshine featuring Isabel De Villiers

Hello World. It’s time to Break Out an Outfit of the Day post (OOTD).

The dress I’m wearing in this post is by one of my all time favourite designers, Isabel De Villiers. I wasnt sure about this dress at first, as the colour is so far out of my comfort zone but I took the plunge anyway and decided to try something new.  This dress was the second dress I picked up on sale , you can read about the other dress I picked up over here.

This yellow Tulle Summer Dress, is the most dreamy princess dress anyone could ask for and can be styled in many ways. Here comfortability was key as I knew I was going to be on my feet all day.I paired it with a pair of olive boots & because we not really in the heat of summer I wore a boat neck bodysuit underneath.

Stepping out of your comfort zone is a good thing, it keeps your look fresh and makes you question everything. Fashion to me is about playing around with different things until I get something that is undeniably my style. Fashion also means not having any rules. At the end of the day clothes make you feel a certain way. And I always want to feel good. Feel good fashion. It’s a thing! Make it your thing.

Have you invested in one of Isabel’s pieces? Let me know if you are as inlove with her work as I am. As always thank you for reading. With all my love , F xx

OOTD:The Fix

Hello World. It’s time to Break out a OOTD (Outfit of the Day) post.

I picked up this t-shirt dress from The Fix two months ago. Since The Fix rebranded from Fashion Express they don’t have a dedicated plus size section wgich was a bit dissapointing. However  I popped in on a whim & was surprised when some of their items actually fit. I love that I can style this dress as a lazy summer throw over to the beach and pair it with stockings & boots for colder days. This dress was approximately R260. 00.

This past weekend because of a work commitment at Clovelly Country Club I found myself exploring Muizenberg, Kalk Bay and Fishoek & this was the perfect no fuss dress. I hadn’t walked these streets for years and yet it felt familiar. The way home does. I remembered summer nights spent at Cape to Cuba and summer days spent at St James Beach swimming until you were exhausted from the sun & sea water .

What feels better than sitting on the beach eating fish and chips straight from the wrapping it came in. Sometimes it is the little things!

Being a tourist in your own city can be as exciting as hopping on a plane to go somewhere foreign. What places give you those feel good memories? As always thank you for reading, with all my love, F x

OOTD: The Snug Life with Trenery

Hello World. It’s time to break out an OOTD (Outfit of the Day) post, its been long enough.

A month ago Woolworths had their annual sale & did I score big time. I picked up a few jumpers from Trenery  at 75% off. I find this outfit works well when its the end of the week, you mostly office bound and have to power through all the admin you put off during the week.

I paired the jumper with tights and velcro strap metallic sneakers from Studio W in this OOTD post. With the days getting a bit colder I feel this is going to become a firm favorite for casual Friday’s as its super comfortable and laid back.

Monday Must Have : Empties Post

Hello World and Happy Monday! It’s time to Break Out a Monday Must Have post featuring my empties.

I’ve blogged about most of these products and since I never make it through products and repurchase those products , I’m happy to announce most of these products have been repurchased besides the mascara.

IMG-20180424-WA0009

First up we have my all time favorite setting spray the Woolworths Face Make up setting spray, you can read my review here. This was my saving grace in Bali.

IMG-20180424-WA0005-1-1

As an eczema sufferer I have to be careful with the products I use . This Shezen body cream was a saving grace when nothing else would ease the itch ( not pictured). You can read my review here. I have since found other uses for it like removing my matte lipsticks and using it as a creme on extremely dry spots.

IMG-20180424-WA0007-1

The Essence ‘Get big lashes ‘ mascara is another firm favorite. This is the only product I have not repurchased as I’ve heard so many good things about the Essence Lash Princess that I will be purchasing that first. You can read my review on the Essence ‘ Get big Lashes’ here.

IMG-20180424-WA0008-1

The Benefit Watt’s Up Highlighter gives you that subtle sun kissed glow and is really buildable. You can read more here.

IMG-20180424-WA0006-1

The Woolworths Face Longwear Max Cover Foundation in Hazelnut was a good find . I found it a bit light coverage but buildable. It was really good on my dry skin and lasted all day.

IMG-20180424-WA0011

The Mac Smoked Purple Matte and Retro Matte Liquid Lipstick in Feels so Grand  are my other favorites . The colour of the Smoked Purple is such a strikingly beautiful dark lippie and the Retro Matte Liquid Lipstick in Feels so Grand is the best Red I have ever worn.

Thank you for reading lovelies. Please remember to share your dupes with me .

WSWB:Networking event

Hello World . It’s time to break out a Women supporting Women in Business post(WSWB). This feature on the blog is an initiative close to my heart. I use this feature to highlight powerhouses who are out here doing the most.

This inspired me to pilot an event for The Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA) called Women in Business Cuppa for CANSA recently. The concept was to invite women business owners, bloggers, beauty enthusiasts & aspiring business owners to get together over a Cuppa for Cansa. The event starts with guest speakers who address a variety of topics but also share advice and tips with us about what makes them successful in business. The floor is then opened to the guests to either market their business, share their stories or pose a question to the panel. The guest speakers are invited to exhibit their company, product or service and at the end of the event guests are encouraged to network and get to know each other .

All proceeds goes towards funding services The Cancer Association of South Africa provides.

My aim with these events is to create a network of women who can stand for each other, who can support each other & share blueprints so that we don’t reinvent the wheel just perfect it.

The Palms offered a lovely intimate space for our event

The event was a huge success, I was buzzing for days after and so were my guest speakers. After amazing feedback I am planning the next event for May 5th 2018 and I’m happy to announce that Rushda Moosajee or Rushtush as she’s fondly known will join us as a guest speaker .

Our next event takes place May 05th. Venue to be confirmed.

I wasn’t sure this event would be well received but it was. I really think this is the start of a movement and this excites me. Thank you for reading lovelies. If you have a business, product or service let me know about it. With all my love F xx

Monday Must Have’s: The Burgundy Bar

Hello World! Easter Monday is the best Monday and its time to break out a Monday must have post. This time featuring favourite drugstore brand and owner of  the infamous”Maybe shes’s born with it , maybe its Maybelinne” tagline.

I received The Burgundy Bar from a very kind friend and thought I would practise my cut crease.

IMG-20180424-WA0012

This palette is the perfect Autumn palette. With 12 shades which ranges from ultra matte to champaigne metallic shades. I found the shades pigmented with little fallout. I like to use my setting spray with metallic shades to create a more intense and pigmented look and once again it didn’t let me down. When applying the product it went on smooth and I found it blendable.

IMG-20180424-WA0013

While doing the cut crease the lightest shade in the palette set the concealer I used, perfectly. I was super impressed by this as I have tried other lighter shades in other palettes before and did not get the result I wanted.

IMG-20180401-WA0002.jpg

What I have found is that I need to cut my crease much higher as I have hooded eyes.

IMG-20180402-WA0000

I recommend this product if you are looking for a palette that’s easy to work with. When it comes to pricing it’s not the cheapest palette for a drug store brand, retailing at R260.00 \21 USD\ 15 GPB but the colours & quality more than make up for it.

IMG-20180402-WA0001

Happy Easter Monday all. Let me know if this is a yay or nay for you. With all my love.
